Limits are checked at the moment of the action: a pull that exceeds the member cap stops at the cap and reports how many were left; a backup over the retention count prunes the oldest version first; a feature behind a plan returns
402 plan_required in the API and shows an upgrade hint in the dashboard.Downgrading keeps your data: backups above the new retention stay readable until pruned by the next backup, and verification records are never deleted because of a plan change.
